Where do I start? I start by saying a big thank you to you all. Last Saturday, Captains Day,
was one of the most successful we have had.
It was great to have all the tee times booked out and to see the club packed throughout the
day.
It was even more pleasing to see members partners and families enjoying themselves into
the late evening.
My chosen charity, Crohns & Colitis Uk will benefit by your generosity. Once everything is
accounted for, the money raised is nearly £2500.
So many people helped out. My wife Amanda, started with me at 6am at the club, her
comments were along the lines of “I only get up this early to go on holiday”, but she enjoyed
meeting you all and said she would gladly do it again.
We got through a lot of Port prior to teeing off and I was forced to take some onboard with a
few pints of Guinness to make up for missing breakfast.
The comments from members and guests were very complimentary about the course and
the club. I would like to thank all of the teams in the club for their hard work. Duncan and his
green staff, Nikki and the bar staff along with Giff in the pro shop who was helping me with
the gazebo at a very early hour.
A special mention must go to young Sam Perkins who wanted to contribute to the day, so set
up a club cleaning service. He raised over £70 by his hard work. Sam, many thanks, it isn’t
an easy job.
Some very good scores and worthy winners won fantastic fourballs to enjoy later in the year.
We have some great photos for memories in years to come.
The end of July sees us do it all again on John Christie’s Presidents Day. Let’s have the
same support and good fun at his event.
Finally, I just want wish everyone who is playing Club Championships this weekend the very
best of luck. Score low and let’s enjoy a few beers on Sunday afternoon with the two
winners.
