After a extreme spell of hot weather, we now need to do some essential maintenance on the greens. The recent hot weather whilst is fantastic for golf, it does put alot of stress on the greens, whilst we have been able to keep on top of watering the greens, this only gets water to the top two inches of the greens and whilst they look and play really well we need to ensure that the roots are getting enough water and air.
Monday & Tuesday the Greens will be solid tined, this will leave lots of little holes in the greens, this allows the greens to aerate and breath, and allows water to penetrate deeper into the roots, We will then be adding some fertiliser and top dressing on Wednesday.
This work is essential and after such a long hot spell is required to ensure we are keeping the greens and roots in good health.
With some much needed heavy rain over the last few days this will now have softened the bunkers up and these will also now be rotavated on Monday to fluff them up.
